
The CII- EXIM Bank Conclave on India-Africa Project Partnership was launched in the year 2005 with the support of the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Over the last sixteen editions, the Conclave has played a pivotal role in encouraging Indian companies to establish and grow their footprints in Africa. The level of economic engagement between India and Africa has grown multi-dimensional and to reflect the changing contours of this dynamic relationship, the Conclave is renamed as “Confederation of Indian Industry and Export Import Bank of India (CII EXIM Bank Conclave on India Africa Growth Partnership) expanding the earlier focus on “Project Partnership”. The upcoming edition will focus on project exports, trade, investments, and exchange of knowledge and expertise creating shared value for business and industry at large between India and Africa. The conclave has not only set the ground for many new cross-border partnerships to take roots but also conducted a critical evaluation of the existing collaborative arrangements based on which a new roadmap for future Africa partnerships would be designed. In the last 16 editions, the conclave has played a pivotal role in encouraging Indian companies to establish and grow their footprints in Africa.
The CII-EXIM bank conclave is set to take place between July 19-20, where both the countries, India and Africa will have the session on different topics under themes like “Building Financing Partnerships”, “SERV Africa- higher education& skill development partnership with Africa”, Strengthening Value Chains Agriculture & Food Processing Sector, digital partnership, defence, financing partnership, power and energy, healthcare & pharmaceuticals and start-ups. The upcoming edition will focus on project exports, trade, investments, Trilateral cooperation, the role of regional communities to create common markets, regional product networks in Africa, and the exchange of knowledge and expertise creating shared value for business and industry at large between India and Africa,” CII-EXIM Africa Conclave said. The two-day event will take place in Taj Palace, New Delhi.
The Ministerial Participation will be observed by Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, The Gambia, Togo, Zambia, Zimbabwe. Although, the focus countries will be – the Republic of Namibia, the Republic of the Gambia, and the Republic of Zambia.
The Chief guest from India attending the conclave is the Minister of External affairs Dr, S Jaishankar, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and President of Confederation of Indian Industry Sanjiv Bajaj. The list of Guest of Honour includes Vice President of the Republic of Mauritius H.E. Mr. Marie Cyril Eddy Boissenzon, H.E. Ms. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and cooperation, Republic of Namibia, H.E. Mr. Badara A. Joof Vice-President Republic of The Gambia, Vice President Republic of Zambia H.E Ms. W.K Mutale Nalumango, and H.E Dr. James Wani Igga Vice- President Republic of South Sudan.

Vice President of Gambia Badara A. Joof arrived in India on a five-day visit where he is set to participate in the confederation of India Industry and EXIM bank of India (CII-EXIM) bank conclave 2022 along with other bilateral engagements.

In a tweet, the ministry of external affairs wrote, “strengthening the partnership. Greetings to the vice president of the Gambia on his arrival in India. He is on a 5-day visit to India and will participate in CII-EXIM Bank Conclave 2022 besides other bilateral engagements.”
Meanwhile, the Namibian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah arrived in the national capital on Sunday for the CII-EXIM bank conclave.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in a tweet “ Warm welcome to DPM & FM Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of Namibia in India. Her participation in CII-EXIM Bank Conclave and extensive engagements over the next few days will further deepen our relations with Namibia in all spheres.”
Other mega events organized by CII, for Africa, in India are the CII – Exim Bank Conclave on India Africa Project Partnership and the Regional Conclaves. So far, there have been 11 Africa Conclaves in New Delhi and 13 regional conclaves in Africa, namely in Zambia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire, Uganda, Senegal, Tanzania, Namibia, and Nigeria. An important advantage of using the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as a platform for India – Africa interaction, is the ability to network with top government officials – such as Prime Ministers, Presidents, Ministers, and Ambassadors from across Africa. India looks forward to this year’s conclave meeting and strengthening its ties with Africa.
